Careful selection
Our LEARN beneficiary schools are carefully selected once the principal has filled in the application form and a thorough needs analysis has been conducted, including a visit to the school and the identification of a room of suitable size to transform into a library. This is the beginning of the transformation process and ongoing partnership with the school.

The purpose of book corners
Book corners are essential in cultivating a culture of reading within a school. A quiet, safe space to page through a book, ignite imagination, travel distant lands and enjoy the wonders of a good story. This is where the foundations of book care are established and an appreciation for the power of story is set.
At LEARN, we aim to place a book corner in every Foundation Phase classroom of the beneficiary schools we are transforming. A book shelf with 60 covered and accessioned books, together with a rug, bright cushions and Proudly South African alphabet and number chart create a language rich classroom environment. This means learners will be exposed to books daily, enhancing the joy that comes with dedicating time and space to reading books.
